Ed Brown Guide Rods, Plugs, & Buffers
|
All Ed Brown Guide rods are machined from high quality 416 heat-treated stainless steel. Because of their solid steel design, all one-piece guide rods may be cut down to any length for use in shorter slides. One piece guide rods are also ideal for use with bull barrels. Wrench and plug is included with all two-piece guide rods. All Ed Brown plugs are machined from either blue or stainless, top-quality stress-proof steel. Guide rods smooth out the cycling of the pistol, extend the life of the recoil spring, and add weight to the front of the gun, thus reducing muzzle flip and recoil. Two-Piece Guide Rod Assembly |

| Reverse Plugs Required with the jobs that eliminate the barrel bushing on the 1911 pistol, these are the recoil spring plugs that are used in compensator guns. Reamed for standard .323 diameter guide rods like our 882. Requires modification of the slide and some hand fitting. Blue finish only on 883-C. |

| Full Shoulder Reverse Plug Many gunsmiths prefer the full shoulder reverse plug when installing a bushingless bull barrel, or for bushingless compensator installations. It makes a neater finished product, and is impossible to install wrong. It does require a 17/32" reamer, with a 1/2" guide ground on the end. Mount the slide vertically in a mill or drill press and run the reamer in to the depth of the shoulder on the plug. This special reamer is available from Brownell's. Works with all 1911 type guns. |
