We begin with the Springfield Armory® Prodigy™—a modern double-stack 1911—and apply the controls, reliability work, slide treatment, and finishing experience Ed Brown has developed over more than 50 years.
The platform
A current double-stack 1911, approached the Ed Brown way.
For over 50 years, Ed Brown has continually refined the 1911 through better parts, careful fitting, and practical improvements. The Fueled® Prodigy™ applies that same philosophy to a double-stack platform selected for its ergonomics, functionality, and capacity.
The result is not a cosmetic package. The work is concentrated on the controls, ignition components, feeding and extraction, slide details, handling, and finish.

Ed Brown Beavertail
Our fully machined Memory Groove Beavertail Grip Safety places the hand deep in the pistol and provides a consistent contact point at the rear.
Fully machined ambi safety
Machined from barstock steel and shaped for shooting comfort, with a special hammer pin that holds the right-side lever securely.
EDM trigger components
A precision-machined hammer and sear with wire-EDM bearing surfaces produce the crisp, smooth trigger expected from Ed Brown.
Reliability package
A fully machined extractor is fit and tuned, and the barrel is precision throated to address feeding and extraction before the pistol leaves our shop.
Flattened and serrated slide
The slide top is flattened and serrated at 40 lines per inch, giving the eye a clean line toward the front sight.
Recessed barrel crown
The barrel receives a deeper recessed crown for a clean, finished appearance at the muzzle.
Careful dehorn
Sharp edges are gently and deliberately broken by the same craftspeople who finish Ed Brown 1911s.
Black Gen4 coating
Our black Gen4 finish provides wear and corrosion protection with the restrained appearance of finely finished matte bluing.
