A stainless-steel Ed Brown 1911 engineered around 9mm: a shortened and thinned 4-inch slide, full-size single-stack Bobtail® frame, bull barrel, external extractor, and familiar 1911 controls.
The 1911 reorganized around 9mm.
The EVO-KC9 began with the controls, handling, magazines, and grip format familiar to 1911 shooters. Ed Brown then reworked the dimensions and operating components around the 9mm cartridge rather than treating it as a caliber substitution in a 45 ACP platform.
The slide is shortened to 4 inches and thinned to .860 inch. A bull barrel, external extractor, flat-wire recoil-spring system, and easy-change front sight address the different geometry and operating requirements of the smaller platform.
The full-size single-stack stainless-steel frame retains the Ed Brown Bobtail® and uses Snakeskin treatment on the frontstrap and Bobtail® housing. A recessed slide stop and flush barrel with recessed crown keep the exterior clean.

9mm-sized upper
The 4-inch slide is substantially thinned and uses a 7-top cut with dedicated front and rear serrations to reduce mass and establish the EVO profile.
Updated operating parts
An external extractor, bull barrel, guide rod, and flat-wire recoil spring are designed to work together in the shortened 9mm platform.

The full-size single-stack grip, Ed Brown Bobtail®, Snakeskin treatment, and carry-profile thumb safety preserve the practical purpose of the Carry Series.
