The Ed Brown 1911 beavertail grip safety is fully machined from steel bar stock for consistent dimensions and precise fitting. This is the machined version of the original Ed Brown beavertail design.
A higher and more consistent grip
The high-sweep profile allows the shooter’s hand to sit deeper into the pistol. This more closely aligns the bore with the forearm, helping control felt recoil and supporting a consistent pointing position.
The safety is countersunk to provide clearance for a Commander-style hammer.
Raised Memory Groove pad
Memory Grooves are machined into the raised rear pad to provide a distinct contact point and help ensure positive depression of the grip safety. The raised pad can be particularly useful for shooters with thinner hands.

Frame fitting is required
Installation requires a .250-inch radius cut centered on the thumb-safety pin hole. Professional gunsmith fitting is recommended. The Ed Brown #886 beavertail installation jig can be used to establish the correct radius.
